Suyash Tilak –
I bought this driver a few months back and decided to put it in 0.75 cuft vented box. I initially had a lot of confusion as every other reviewer or even the manufacturer’s suggested optimal box size was more than 1 cuft. But the boxes with size lager than 0.75cuft had a problem of overexcursion in the lower spectrum and the WinISD simulation showed the same. They all suggested this large size because of high Qts. Anyway I decided to go with my plan and tuned the box at 43hz and I’m practically getting f3 of 39hz which is amazing for such a small driver. I am using it as a replacement subwoofer for my JBL creature iii and 15watts is sufficient to get around 90db at my chair(about 2mtr away from sub). The high frequency drivers of the set up crossover at 350Hz and I’m really a fan of open midbass-midrange and that’s why I chose this driver. It turned out to be rather flat instead of people speculating it to be boomy (cuz of high Qts in vented box). This driver really shines in mid region. It has very smooth and very accurate midrange. The bass is accurate and detailed and it does go low…..surprisingly low. It isn’t very loud but loud enough for me. Its kinda expensive here because usually this driver goes for 25-30 dollars on international market and that is the only downside….and the very budget-looking stamped steel basket.
